Mr Sharad Sanghi is the Chairman of NTT Global Data Centers & Cloud Infrastructure India Pvt. Ltd.
He is responsible for scaling NTT India to over 4500 employees, 14 high-density and hyperscale data centers, delivering transformational services elements including managed hybrid infrastructure, and cloud services, as well as foundational technology solutions and services to over 3500 clients.
Sharad exemplifies what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur, to generate returns for all stakeholders, and be deeply connected in everything one does. His passion and commitment to deliver value to clients is evident in the way he founded a customer-focused service organization called Netmagic in July 1998, which was later acquired by NTT, a Fortune 500 company.
A pioneer in the Indian cloud computing space, Sharad is an industry veteran with over 30 years of extensive experience in developing Internet backbone infrastructure and providing Internet services. He was inducted in the ‘Hall of fame’ series by The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Mumbai in 2019 for being an Outstanding Entrepreneur in the Deep Tech category. He is on the Board of APNIC Foundation. He is also the Co-chairman of the Data Center Council of apex associations’ namely the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
During a six-year stint in the US, Sharad worked for Unified Network Management Architecture Group at AT&T Bell Labs, the Backbone Engineering Group of NSFNET (ANS) and the Router Systems Development Group of Advantis (IBM Global Network). He has also helped Merrill Lynch and Bankers Trust design and deploy Wide Area Networks.
Sharad is an Electrical Engineer from IIT Bombay and holder of a Master’s degree from Columbia University, New York. He is also the recipient of IIT Bombay’s Distinguished Alumnus Award 2021, a prestigious recognition conferred upon alumni for their outstanding achievements in the spheres of academia, industry, public service and social welfare.
